February Partner in Mission - Liz Gerrity

Posted 1/31/2021

During February we pay tribute to Liz Gerrity, a registered nurse who ministers to the health and safety of our Ursuline Center residents.

Liz joined the Ursuline Center three years ago. She says it is a privilege to assist in taking care of the medical needs and general well-being of our residents.

Many years ago Liz answered an ad in a church bulletin for a registered nurse position in a convent. “I have had to move several times since then but have enjoyed working for the Franciscans, Apostles of the Sacred Heart, Mercy Sisters, and now the Ursuline Sisters.” She says she enjoys the intimacy of a small center and she loves the Sisters! Her family has had a connection with the Ursuline Sisters for a while now, as her son, Edward, played music for daily mass here as well.

When asked what she enjoys most about her position, Liz says the highlight would be the relationships she has formed with the residents. “Many Sisters have a permanent place in my heart,” she says.

The recent pandemic has posed particular challenges for nursing homes employees and residents alike. “I think this has been a difficult year for everyone. The isolation has been hard for patients and staff alike. Recently, reopening the dining room was wonderful!”

Liz is a wife, mom to five, grandmother to 10. Her original home is Buffalo, New York. “Go Bills!” In her spare time, Liz knits, crochets, enjoys doing puzzles and taking walks, rides her bike, and loves having family parties.
Thank you, Liz, for sharing your time and talents with all of us at the Ursuline Center!
